LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana Community College will host a student-centered event next week focused on health, environmental awareness and human rights.

“Celebrating Community at DACC” will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, inside Alex Sanchez Hall at the Espina campus, 3400 S. Espina St. The event is free and open to all DACC students.

The afternoon will include short talks, food, games and a student open mic, where participants can share their thoughts on topics that matter to them — including social justice, sustainability and well-being.

A presentation will also explore the connections between environmental responsibility and fundamental human rights.

The event is supported by funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities, which backs programs exploring history, culture, law, media, philosophy and the social sciences.
