Doña Ana County government to observe Thanksgiving

LAS CRUCES - Most Doña Ana County administrative offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

In 1863, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November. Thanksgiving has been observed in the U.S. on the fourth Thursday in November since 1941.

The closure will not affect emergency services, including law enforcement and fire. County offices will resume regular hours of operation at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2.
