LAS CRUCES - The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department’s Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Program will hold a neighborhood dumpster day on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, from 8 a.m. to noon.
The event will feature open-top trash containers at three locations across the city. Residents can dispose of yard waste, household trash and other permissible items free of charge. KLCB staff will be on-site to assist and provide information about the program.
Open-top container locations:
East Mesa Recreation Center, 5589 Porter Drive
Young Park, 850 S. Walnut Street
Intersection of Motel Boulevard and Westway Avenue, 674 N. Motel Boulevard
Prohibited items: The following items cannot be disposed of in the containers, as outlined by state and local regulations:
Medical waste (per section 20.9.8.8 NMAC of the New Mexico Environmental Protection regulations)
Hot ashes or coals
Tires or vehicle parts, including car batteries
Fluorescent light bulbs
Large yard waste, such as stumps or tree trunks
Concrete, bricks or rocks
Toxic, combustible or hazardous materials
Toilets and sinks
Refrigerators or items containing refrigerant
Animal carcasses
KLCB staff will monitor the locations, and residents must unload their items into the containers themselves.
