Las Cruces police Investigate apparent murder-suicide

Elderly couple found deceased in their Gila Trail home from gunshot wounds

LAS CRUCES - Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after a local couple was found dead in their home on the 4000 block of Gila Trail. Officers responded to the residence around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29.

The deceased have been identified as Dennis Wyatts, 77, and Renate Wyatts, 83. According to police, both died from gunshot wounds.

Authorities have not released further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
