LAS CRUCES - This holiday season, the Las Cruces Public Libraries are making reading even more fun with Winter Reading Lotería, a bingo-style game available on the Beanstack app from Dec. 4 to Dec. 31.

Designed for families to enjoy together during winter break, the game challenges participants to complete activities based on Lotería cards drawn in the app. For example, when the app lands on El Venado (The Deer), a deer wearing a scarf, players might be prompted to submit a book review. If the card is La Araña (The Spider), a purple spider in a winter hat, participants could be tasked with reading for a set amount of time.

Once players fill a row on their Lotería card, they earn a trip to the library’s treasure chest to pick out a prize.

How to register

To join the Winter Reading Lotería challenge:

  • Visit lascruces.beanstack.org and register yourself or your family.
  • Alternatively, download the Beanstack app and search for Las Cruces Public Libraries to sign up.

The program is free and open to readers of all ages.
