LAS CRUCES - The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department will begin replacing playground equipment at three city parks starting March 24.

The work will take place at East Mesa Park, 5589 Porter Drive; Pioneer Woman’s Park, 500 W. Las Cruces Ave.; and Vlachakis Park, 2800 Missouri Ave. Each playground is expected to take approximately seven to 14 days to complete, with the entire project scheduled to last six to eight weeks.

These playground replacements are part of the city's ongoing efforts to improve recreational facilities. Previously, the city approved contracts for parks and recreation projects funded by general obligation bonds, which included rehabilitation of playgrounds and the addition of new amenities.

Playgrounds at the affected parks will be temporarily closed during construction. The city is asking the public to follow posted signs and avoid work and staging areas.
