LAS CRUCES - The Asombro Institute for Science Education invites the community to its annual "Luminarias Light up the Desert" event, set for Friday, Dec. 13, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Visitors can enjoy a festive evening strolling the Desert Discovery Trail at 56501 N. Jornada Road, which will be illuminated by more than 500 glowing luminarias. Guests will also be treated to free hot cocoa and cookies, have the opportunity to gaze at the stars through a telescope, and shop for science-themed gifts at a pop-up holiday gift shop.

Asombro organizers encourage attendees to come prepared for the event's popularity, as parking is limited. Patience and a willingness to walk are appreciated.

The institute suggests a donation of $5 per person or $10 per family to support its science education programs, which serve more than 20,000 students each year.

For those unable to attend, donations can still be made to help further Asombro's mission of engaging young minds in science.

For information, visit the Asombro Institute for Science Education's website or social media pages.
