MESILLA - The Mesilla Valley Fine Arts Gallery, located at 2470-A Calle de Guadalupe, across from the Fountain Theatre, will feature two local artists — Mary Zawacki and Frank Peacock — during January 2025.
Zawacki, a Las Cruces resident since 2011, specializes in oils and pastels. She previously worked as an advertising art director and graphic designer in Los Angeles for more than 20 years, focusing on the movie industry. Originally from Detroit, Zawacki earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan and further developed her interest in fine art through pastel painting studies at the Otis College of Art and Design.
Peacock’s work spans painting, pastels and etching, with a focus on bold color and texture. A National Landscape Painting Competition finalist, his pieces have been featured in museums, cultural centers and university exhibitions across the United States. Over the past three years, he has concentrated on capturing the pecan orchards of Doña Ana County, including those on the Stahmann, Salopek and Fletcher farms.
