One dead, one injured after vehicle crashes into Las Cruces motel

LAS CRUCES - A crash at the Imperial Sky Motel on West Picacho Avenue left one woman dead and a man injured Friday morning, according to Las Cruces police.

The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 6 at 1865 W. Picacho Ave. Investigators said a Chevrolet Suburban was leaving the motel complex when it collided with the building.

The vehicle struck a 59-year-old man, who sustained minor injuries, and a 55-year-old woman, who died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of her next of kin.

The 22-year-old driver of the Suburban, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
