LAS CRUCES - The Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department will begin accepting registrations Friday, Dec. 13, for a free Winter Break Camp designed for students in grades six through 12. The camp will run from Dec. 23, 2024, to Jan. 6, 2025.

The camp will offer a mix of activities, including academic support, recreational and creative projects, age-specific enrichment opportunities and guest speakers. A nutritional component will be provided in partnership with Families and Youth Incorporated.

The camp will operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, 304 W. Bell Ave. There will be no camp on Dec. 25, Dec. 26, or Jan. 1. Parents or guardians are responsible for transportation and pick-up.

Registration will remain open until all spots are filled. Interested families can register online or in person at the following locations:

  • Parks and Recreation Administration Office, 1501 E. Hadley Ave., open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
  • Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, 304 W. Bell Ave., open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
  • A. Fielder Memorial Safe Haven, 906 N. Tornillo St., open noon to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
