LAS CRUCES - Nearly 800 students from Las Cruces and Doña Ana County are expected to attend the third annual Plan My Future career exploration fair, hosted by Las Cruces Public Schools. The event will take place at the LCPS Field of Dreams on Thursday, Feb. 27.

Organized by the district’s Career and Technical Education team, the fair is designed to introduce middle and high school students to career paths that may not require a traditional college degree. High school students will attend from 9 to 11 a.m., while middle school students will visit from noon to 2 p.m. in the west parking lot of the Field of Dreams, 2300 Tashiro Road.

Kathleen Gardner, a career readiness and work-based learning teacher with LCPS, said the event relies on participation from local businesses and organizations to provide hands-on demonstrations and career insights. Past exhibitors have included the building trades, media outlets, Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services, local law enforcement agencies and other vocational industries. Demonstrations in electrical work and heavy equipment operations have been featured in previous years.

New Mexico State University, military branches and other post-secondary organizations are expected to participate this year.
