Las Cruces Public Libraries invites teens to create poetry from upcycled book pages during a free event

Organ Mountain News report

LAS CRUCES - Local teens are invited to express themselves through poetry during a free blackout poetry event hosted by Las Cruces Public Libraries.

The event takes place from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. on Friday, April 11, in the first-floor Craft Room at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave.

Open to ages 12 to 18, the session gives teens the opportunity to create original poems by selecting and blacking out words on upcycled book pages. Whether serious or playful, romantic or surreal, the poems are as varied as the teens who create them.

No registration is required. Branigan Library is accessible via Roadrunner Transit route 1.

For more information or to request accommodations, contact the library at 575-528-4102 or TTY 711 at least 48 hours in advance. Questions about the event can be directed to Librarian Taryne Heredia at 575-528-4003 or by email at theredia@lascruces.gov.
