Two men injured in accidental shooting in Doña Ana County

LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana County Sheriff's deputies responded to an incident Sunday evening in which two men sustained gunshot wounds in what officials described as an accidental shooting.

The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on Dec. 22 in the 2100 block of Rocca Secca Road, according to authorities.

"One of the two males was handling the weapon when it accidentally discharged," officials said in a statement.

Deputies arrived to find both men at the scene with gunshot wounds. Both individuals were transported to University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening, according to the sheriff's office.
