NMSU Aggie stars shine in New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame class of 2024
Two former NMSU Aggies, Randy Brown and Fredd Young, are among this year's honorees.

LAS CRUCES - The New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame has unveiled its Class of 2024, spotlighting a lineup of legendary athletes and coaches who have left an indelible mark on the state’s sports legacy. Among the honorees, two former New Mexico State University Aggies, Randy Brown and Fredd Young, take center stage as they join the institution's prestigious ranks.
Randy Brown, a standout guard for the NMSU Aggies, rose to prominence in the NBA, contributing to three championship seasons with the Chicago Bulls during the Michael Jordan era. His roots as an Aggie laid the foundation for his celebrated basketball career.
Joining Brown is Fredd Young, a powerhouse on the gridiron during his time at NMSU. Young transitioned to a stellar NFL career, earning four Pro Bowl selections while playing for the Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts. His aggressive style and defensive leadership made him a household name in football circles.
Other inductees include rodeo legend Roy Cooper, Eastern New Mexico University football standout and golf professional Steve Loy, Paralympic gold medalist Alana Nichols, and former ENMU and Seattle Seahawks star Michael Sinclair.
“These individuals represent the pinnacle of sports excellence and have brought tremendous pride to New Mexico,” said Aprilyn Chavez Geissler, president of the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame. “We’re thrilled to celebrate their achievements and welcome them into the Hall.”
The Class of 2024 will be formally introduced during a press conference at The Pit on the University of New Mexico campus at 9 a.m. on Dec. 28. Later that day, they’ll be honored at the New Mexico Bowl at University Stadium.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for the weekend of June 27-29, 2025, culminating in a formal event at the Albuquerque Convention Center on June 29 at 4:30 p.m.
