LAS CRUCES - The Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra will close out the first half of its season with a December chamber concert featuring its string musicians and special guest violinist David Felberg.

Felberg, a violin instructor at the University of New Mexico and concertmaster of the Santa Fe Symphony, is also a regular conductor for the New Mexico Philharmonic and Santa Fe Symphony. He will join the Las Cruces Symphony to perform and conduct a program of string compositions on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14.

The concert will highlight four pieces, including two reinterpretations of Antonio Vivaldi's timeless masterpiece The Four Seasons. Audiences will hear Max Richter's contemporary recomposition of the classic work and Astor Piazzolla's tango-inspired The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. Other pieces include Vivaldi’s Sinfonia in G Major RV 151, Op. 51 and Luigi Boccherini’s Musica Notturna delle Strade di Madrid, Op. 30 No. 6.

The performances will take place at the First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Boutz Rd., a departure from the orchestra’s usual venue. Showtimes are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m.
